Current productions:
“Storms, Maybe Snow”
What happens when you lose the one person who has always been your audience? When you are difficult and desperate and downright rude, weathering the storms of loneliness and family resentments, when secrets of the past and a reckless dog are all you have left?
"You have written a truly glorious play. The characters, scenario, plot, all weave themselves so beautifully. It is a gem...And it could make a rather lovely film…All said, it was a delight and a privilege to read. You have created a beautiful play." (Greg Wise) "Highly commended" (National Theatre).
“iActor”
It is a daring enterprise: to task an actor to work with and train a synthetic humanoid, to see whether it can play a convincing role. A synthoid observes, processes and learns, just as an actor does. Their ability to memorise lines far outstrips the human brain. But can they ‘pretend?’ Can they convey feelings? And what if they can? Jones puts Steen through his paces with a mixture of amusement, awe and fear, fascinated to see how far the synthoid can learn, as they both grapple with the question ‘Is acting lying or telling the truth?’
“…an astute and probing exploration of technology, performance, and consciousness…at the end, a disruptive and gut-wrenching moment that helps ask important questions about what makes good performance.” (Bush Theatre)
Miranda co-wrote and directed "Bharat, Blighty & The Bard" (2014) with the actor Madhav Sharma (RSC, NT) which premiered and toured in India followed by performances in the UK and Romania: “a treasure box of a show” (What’s Hot, Bangalore); “a power-packed performance” (The Telegraph, India)
In 2020 her play exploring the destructive symptoms of menopause, "Busted Flush" (co-written with Louise Cameron) won a new playwriting award.
